Drivers: We
urgently need volunteers to assist with driving Clients to presentations and
functions to talk about their lives after receiving a Seeing Eye Dog. A company car is provided for
merchandise or materials for the event.
it is a fascinating way to learn about the organisation through the eyes
of someone without sigh.
Community
Education: Volunteers can assist us in areas such as Community
Education including public speaking talks at schools and groups. These
visits are vital to our future and if we have the commitment of volunteers, we
will be able to expand this initiative and talk to more people about what we do
and the importance of our services.
Tour Presenters
& Assistants: Volunteers also assist in running tours through our
headquarters in Kensington to give our guests a first hand overview of our
Breeding Centre, how our dogs are trained and the opportunity to observe Seeing
Eye Dogs in action. If public speaking is not your thing, we also need
people to assist with large groups selling merchandise and
morning/afternoon tea.
Shopping
Centres: We also need assistance with our Shopping Centre
promotions manning our merchandise stands selling soft toys and Christmas
cards. Our wonderful Puppy Carers also attend to ensure that
there is always a puppy or two for cuddles.
Collectors:
Volunteers are required for our Collection Dog Program. Volunteers are
provided with a company vehicle and work in teams of two. Volunteers visit shopping centres to
exchange plastic collection dogs from shop counters. This position suits people who like
being out and about in the community.
Kennels:
For those volunteers who don’t mind a bit of physical work, we occasionally
have places available in our Kennel area where help is sought for
cleaning, grooming, bathing and cooking meals for our trainee dogs and
pups.
Puppy
Carers: We are always looking for puppy carers in Victoria, Queensland
& Western
Australia to care for our pups in training for
around a 12 month period. Food, Medical, Bedding, Toys ect is supplied by
SEDA, so it's more of a donation of time and it's great fun as the puppy goes
with you everywhere; to the movies, to work, out for dinner, to the cricket,
fishing. You name it - our pups have done it!
Our Volunteer Programme is
very important to us and we hope that you will consider joining us so our work
can continue to grow.
